Celebrating 2011 President's Day at LVS Ascot

Students and staff at LVS Ascot, were joined by parents and invited guests on Friday 30th September to celebrate the students� achievements from the past academic year.

The ceremony commenced with Senior School Head Boy, Jack Bingham and Head Girl, Caitlin Hobbs, addressing the audience with recollections of their time at the school so far and their memories of their first days at LVS Ascot. Guests included the Mayor of Maidenhead, Councillor Asghar Majeed, and the Mayor and Mayoress of Bracknell Forest, Councillor Chris Turrell and Ms Diana Henfrey.

Awards were made across all subject areas with recognition for academic achievement and excellence, as well as prizes for personal endeavour and progress. Christine Cunniffe, Senior School Headmistress said: �President�s day is a wonderful opportunity for parents, students and staff to celebrate not only the academic successes of our students, but also to recognise the outstanding contribution many of our young people make to school life and the wider community.�

Amongst the prize winners were, Georgina Kendall, age10, from the Junior School, who received the award for Year 5 achievement. In the Senior School, Tom Buxton 17, won several awards, including The Graham Fox Memorial Prize, Mathematics Key Stage 4, The Graham Jones Award for Science and the Sonja Milsen Memorial Prize for Journalism.
Helen Donnelly, Head of the Junior School said: �LVS prides itself on developing and nurturing children of all abilities. Today makes me very proud to see pupils that have come through the Junior School now being recognised for their achievements as they embark on a new phase of education either in the Senior School or moving on to University.�
