Students of LVS Ascot creating their own music videos

Published Wednesday 9th of November 2011 01:18:56 PM

Students at LVS Ascot studying Photography, Media and Music were given the opportunity to participate in the first 'Director's Cut' film production workshop. This 4-day project consisted of 3 groups of students creating their very own music videos, assisted by professional film maker, Garth von Glehn.

The aim of the workshop was to engage students from various subjects in a collaborative effort to produce a music video. They were able to learn about the whole production process, from conceptualisation to shooting, post production and distribution on the web. All the students involved created teams that consisted of a director; director of Photography, sound and lighting, using professional equipment and techniques to create their films.

Garth von Glehn commented saying, 'By far the greatest challenge of this sort of exercise is the teamwork element. It was great to see how the students took a mature approach towards their responsibilities in their different departments of the production.... They seemed to respond well to the film philosophy which says that " a director is only as good as his crew." All in all it was a very productive and insightful week. I hope the positive work continues and our artists flourish!'
