Pupils go shopping for new mums

Published Friday 17th of January 2020 09:43:49 AM

After a fun shopping trip to Sainsbury's to spend £800 of chapel donations on baby equipment, the Blue Coat Chapel Monitors and some of the Year 2 pupils headed off to deliver goodies to the charity Baby Bank. Baby Bank Central is a Project of Karis Neighbour Scheme working closely with Birmingham City Church Food Bank, supporting new mothers who are struggling to meet the financial cost of having a new baby. Working with midwives, health visitors. social services, children’s centre’s pregnancy outreach workers and other professional groups in the Ladywood area they provide much needed essentials and equipment to mothers and families in need. The children met Sebrina, Ruth and the team at Baby Bank and they all had the chance to sort clothes, make up parcels for families and learn a bit more about how and why the charity operates. It was great to partner with such a committed and compassionate team of volunteers and the children thoroughly enjoyed being part of it! Thank you to everyone who donated during the Harvest services. Your generosity has enabled this to happen!
