Boarders learn new international traditional cooking skills

Published Wednesday 19th of May 2021 09:12:01 AM

Boarding students lead incredibly active lives at Kingsley and it is important they have a consistent energy supply provided in the meals they eat.  The boarding staff are always on hand to encourage healthy eating and to guide meal choices. Whilst it is a complicated process to cater for 60 teenagers from different nationalities, the menus and quality of food make in the school kitchens (based on student feedback!) is key to meal satisfaction.

In addition, the pupils have the opportunity to learn how to make a different traditional dish each week in one of the boarding activity times.  This week, Kingsley Boarders enjoyed learning how to make a traditional carbonara dish made by house staff, Luca Casciotta.  The well-equipped kitchen in Longfield Boarding House lends its self perfectly to group cooking activities.  Luca was not short of sous-chefs and judging by the empty dishes, the meal was extremely popular!
