We have had another really busy but fun week of learning at Abercorn Place! I am so happy with how well the children have settled into their new classes! This is wonderful to see and really impressive – well done to the Lower School children! If you do have any concerns about how your child has settled during the day, please do not hesitate to call the school office and we will be only too happy to check for you.

I was delighted to start the week by meeting our new ‘Stars of the Week’ and award them their star badge. Mr Davies and I were so impressed in assembly on Friday with all the certificates we were able to award to the Lower School children. Year 1 and 2 have also started collecting House Points and they were so keen to explain to us how this system works and all about the different Houses they are in. What a positive end to a great week!

A very big thank you to the parents who have volunteered to support the Abercorn Parents Association and the school this year by taking on the role of class reps. This is an important (and hopefully enjoyable) role and I know the teachers are extremely grateful to you.

Forest School visits have started again this term. Y1M visited last week and Y1P visited this week. It’s Reception Gruffalo Class’s turn next week, hopefully they will have sunny weather again but, due to the British weather, please don’t forget raincoats and wellington boots on the day of the Forest School visits. Class teachers will provide further information on the Google Classrooms.

The staff and I hope that families are finding the class Google Classrooms helpful. These have been set up with the intention of providing information in one place for parents. On your child’s Google Classroom you will find reminders from staff, weekly information/updates, timetables for the class etc. Please let your class teacher know if you have any problems with accessing this information.

This week, the school has welcomed ISI inspectors, we hope that they have enjoyed seeing all the wonderful work that the children and their teachers do. As always, we have been so proud of the children, their behaviour and manners have been excellent; they are a real credit to the school.

Next week, our wonderful Parents Association are running a Book Fair at Lower School. Flyers were sent out on Wednesday. I know that the children and staff are very much looking forward to exploring the Book Fair.

Well done to the Pre-Reception children who had their very first swimming lesson with Mr Doyle and Mrs Fisher this week. We are all so proud of the children as they start new lessons and activities in their new classes. Well done, Lower School children!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
