Headmaster's Welcome 23rd September 2022

Published by Bethany School on Tuesday 27th of September 2022

Dear Parents,

Although this has been a shortened week due to the Queen’s funeral on Monday, it has nevertheless been a busy one.

On Tuesday pupils in Years 7, 10 and 12 enjoyed a study skills workshop, where they received some practical guidance on how to study and revise effectively. Other year groups will benefit from this workshop later on in the year.

The Year 10 Art and the Sixth Form Geography trips to Margate on Wednesday were very successful for the pupils.

Our sports afternoon yesterday was enjoyed by all, with Speakers narrowly beating Roberts and Kiplings to win the overall competition.

Next Friday 30th September, is Meet the Tutor evening for all parents. Depending on the year that your child is in, these meetings will take place in different locations.

Year 7 & 8 event will take place in the Function Suite (the room over the dining room)
Year 9 meeting will occur in the Science Lecture Theatre (in the Science building)
Year 10 & 11 event will happen in the Assembly Hall
Sixth Form meeting will take place in the Sixth Form Centre
Starting time is 5.30pm to avoid traffic congestion at the end of School.

An email was sent yesterday on School Post with details and a form to be filled in confirming your attendance so that we have relevant catering numbers. Please fill it in promptly if you have not already done so.

At the end of the Meet the Tutors evening, there will be a FOBS (Friends of Bethany School) meeting at 7pm in Room 1 in the Haywards Building. FOBS are about to start using new piece of software called ClassList to help parents communicate with each other and it will also allow Bethany to inform parents of any last minute changes to planned events, such as sports fixtures and return times if pupils get delayed for whatever reasons.

The first Open Morning of the academic year takes place tomorrow. Pupils should arrive one hour later than normal, and therefore buses will pick up pupils one hour later that usual and there will be no return bus service. Pupils will be free to leave at 1pm. We have a record number of perspective pupils and parents and signed up for Saturday, so it promises to be a busy morning.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement, please continue to spread the good word about Bethany.

Yours sincerely,

Francie Healy
