Mayfield pupil honoured in prestigious National Competition

A Year 9 pupil at St Leonards-Mayfield School has beaten off competition from top students nationwide in the prestigious History of Parliament Schools Competition.

Anneka Wehnes, 14, whose entry into the national competition was judged as �outstanding� and �showing precocious historical empathy�, is in her third year at the top girls� school which is situated just south of Tunbridge Wells.

Anneka�s �Speech on King Charles I after his execution� was judged by academics and the staff of the Parliament�s Education Service to be �a remarkable pice of work,which captured some of the intensity of religious feeling and commitment that must have been felt by the people at the time�.
