The Norwich High School for Girls company Pulse received the AVIVA Business Award at this year's Young Enterprise finals held in Norwich on Thursday 3rd May.

A record total of 14 companies from schools across the county contested the Norfolk Business Award. All had spent the last nine months coming up with innovative business ideas, electing directors, sourcing, making and selling products, tracking their finances, promoting their wares and handling the administrative complexity of the entire process. The overall focus of the scheme is on learning by doing, and effective teamwork.

'We're all delighted by this significant achievement, but are not resting on our laurels', commented Mr Tom White, Head of Economics and Business and Young Enterprise Link Tutor at the school. 'We are looking forward to the East of England finals at Cambridge University on 25th June. The girls will have time to make revisions, updates and improvements in the way they submit their accounts and other documentation. And more time to prepare before the girls are subjected to yet another nerve-wracking set of interviews and presentations!'

Norwich High Sixth Former Mimi Barr, MD of Pulse said, 'It hasn't always been easy, but we've fought through the challenges and now feel that we really are an established company. We're optimistic about the future too: our product has scope for further development and we look forward to representing Norfolk in the next round of the competition'.
