Kingshott Childrens Artwork Brightens the Lives of Pinehill Patients

Some children from Kingshott School have recently visited Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin to see how their artwork is making a difference to the patients. Simone Barnard, from Pinehill, invited the children to share some of their artwork with a suggestion that some pieces could be framed and hung around the hospital. Kingshott Art teacher, Mrs Rose said, We have some incredibly talented young artists at the school, so working with Simone to narrow down the selection from across the year groups was a challenge!
Pinehills Marketing Manager Christine Scott commented, "We have received so many comments from patients and consultants about the paintings and it is brilliant to join forces with Kingshott and display their work rather than use an out of town artist".
During the recent visit, ten children were given a tour of the hospital, including seeing an operating theatre and the physiotherapy and radiography departments. Christine Scott shared a wealth of information about the variety of hospital based careers that the children might choose in the future, and the children were able to talk with a number of different staff. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were surprised by the great variety of career opportunities and the numerous medical services that a small private hospital can offer. The visit ended with the children having their pictures taken with their artwork. One of the Year 7 girls said, It was an amazing experience seeing mine and everyone elses paintings on the wall.
