Oakham School students celebrate IB exam success

Oakham School's IB students are celebrating coming 6th in The Times IB League Tables for 2012 as results for the IB Diploma Programme are published across the world.

Almost a third of the Oakham School cohort gained 40 or more points (out of a possible 45) which is the equivalent of three A* grades at A-level and 73% of students gained 35 or more points, the equivalent of AAB grades at A- level.

'I congratulate students and their teachers on another superb set of IB results' says Oakham's Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook. 'We are all very proud of the achievements of the class of 2012. The breadth and academic rigour of the International Baccalaureate is now widely regarded as an outstanding preparation for study at university and beyond; I therefore expect that this year's leavers will go on to ever more impressive achievements in the years ahead.'
The Oakham School IB students join nearly 5,000 others in the UK who took the IB Diploma Programme this year, and nearly 1 million others educated by the IB since it was founded over 40 years ago. Statistics show that the UK compares well internationally, with UK students consistently scoring higher than the world average for the IB Diploma Programme.
