BollyGood event in memory of Sophie Parr raises £8,000

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 26th of July 2012

A three-minute BollyWood dance routine was held at more than 10 different venues around the world in memory of Sophie Parr, a former student at King's Bruton who died of cancer in 2009 at the age of 24.
The event, which took place in Bruton, London, New Zealand, Kathmandu, New York and South Africa, was in part an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records with the largest number of people dancing a Bollywood routine. Despite large crowds, the record remained intact, but Sophie's family and friends were delighted with the more than £8,000 raised.
Immediately after her diagnosis, Sophie set up a fundraising page for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising around £5,300.
