Enterprising schoolgirls through to Dragons' Den-style final

A team of students from Sherborne Girls in Dorset are through to next month's final of 'Ahead of the Game', a national competition initiated by Louise Robinson, President of the Girls' Schools Association (GSA), and backed by former BBC Apprentice finalist Claire Young, to find the young entrepreneurial stars of the future.

The girls beat off stiff competition from 30 other teams in the initial stage of the competition with their detailed business plan for a company called PictureIT, providing photographic tours of Sherborne and training in digital and social media. They then organised an 'Evening of Food and Friends', including a cookery demonstration and Q&A session with Sir Matthew Pinsent, which raised the requisite £500 for the charity EducAid to be considered for the final.
The final, which takes place on Wednesday 28 November at Blackberry's headquarters in Slough, consists of a 15-minute pitch of their PictureIT plan in a 'Dragons' Den' environment.
Says Headmistress Jenny Dwyer: 'We are all incredibly proud of the girls and what they have achieved so far and wish them the best of luck as they prepare for next month's final. We place great store in the need for our students to be good communicators, good leaders and team players and the girls have shown that they possess these qualities in abundance.'
