Students at ACS Hillingdon International School recently wowed an audience of parents, teachers and friends with diverse music performances at the school's annual Chamber Concert.

As part of students International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) and IB Diploma music studies, students took to the stage to perform a piece of music they had each chosen as being most meaningful or enjoyable for them.

Performances ranged from a rendition of Paul McCartneys Blackbird and Jeff Buckleys Hallelujah, to John Williams unmistakable Star Wars theme.

All the students received praise from the crowd, but student Rudi Lass aged 17 who performed Green Days classic, Basket Case, received particular commendation for his natural stage presence. The youngest performer, Rosie Croysdale aged 12, also received praise for her violin rendition of Arcangelo Corellis Sonatas in D Minor.

Head of Music at ACS Hillingdon and organiser of concert, Robert Barlow, commented:

The students were brilliant. They really thought about their music choices and got the whole audience engaged in their performances. Its important for music students to have opportunities to perform, not just to have something to aim for to make their practice sessions more meaningful, but to boost their confidence in presenting to the public. They should all feel really proud and inspired to continue developing their skills.
