St Margaret's Support Operation Christmas Child

Pupils at a school in Calne have been busy creating shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. A stack of over 70 boxes containing small presents for children in Eastern Europe already stands in the entrance hall of St Margaret's Preparatory School, Calne and the pile is growing by the day. Each year pupils take part in the initiative to send boxes of gifts to children who might otherwise receive no Christmas presents at all. Each box is lovingly created for a boy or girl in a particular age group and distributed by the Samaritan's Purse Christian charity. St Margaret's Headmistress Karen Cordon said: 'This is something the children always look forward to taking part in and they take a lot of care choosing the gifts to go in their boxes.' Wiltshire regional manager for Operation Christmas Child, Roger Fenton, said: 'We are one of the UK's largest annual children's charity projects, distributing over one million gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children at Christmas time last year.'
