French Day at Canford welcomes over 140 primary school pupils

A warm 'bienvenue' was said to over 140 pupils from local primary schools who took part in a French day organised by the Modern Languages staff and Sixth Formers.
Children in Years 3 and 4 enjoyed an exciting day, with activities ranging from a fiercely contested boules competition infront of the magnificent main building, to a chocolate-drenched feast of crpes in the historic dining hall.

Language skills were developed through various classroom tasks, helping the pupils engage in and enjoy the acquisition of new expressions and phrases.

Later the same day, a group of Sixth Form students participating in the Foreign Language Leader Award visited Colehill First School, where Canford runs a weekly after school French club.

The Foreign Language Leader Award encourages the development of communication, organisation and motivational skills through working with children. Partnerships such as this aim to benefit both Canford's students, and those in other schools in the local area, as part of the whole school community service programme.

Many thanks to the Modern Languages department and Sixth Formers who helped make this event so enjoyable and engaging for all involved.
