Call Me Mo Bro

Forget 'Gangnam Style', 'Call Me Mo Bro' is the latest YouTube phenomenon to hit the internet, with over 14,000 hits in under a week. The Movember video was the brainchild of the Mo Bro's at Bedford School. Written, performed, filmed and edited by the boys themselves, the entertaining Movember video is raising the profile of Movember and getting people talking across the whole school community and beyond (Chris Evans on the BBC2 breakfast show to name just one!).

In addition to the video, and the obligatory Mo, the 30 boys and staff have raised over £5,000 pounds (to date). Fundraising activities have included a dodge ball tournament, mufti day, cake sales and a number of auctions. Masterchef champion and Old Bedfordian, Dhruv Baker, has also added his support offering to cook dinner for eight for the boy with the winning bid in his old boarding house. The activities continue next week as well which sees the grand Movember shave-a-thon, when the staff will shave off their fine collection of moustaches to raise even more funds for the charity.

Susie Spyropoulos, Head of General Education at Bedford School explains, 'Whilst Movember is obviously great fun for both boys and staff, there is a serious side to the campaign. Throughout the month there has been a focus on raising awareness and educating the boys on the health risks that they face and how to identify them. Movember also great in helping to break down the stigmas around health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer giving the boys the opportunity and confidence to talk about their health more openly.'
