Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 10th of November 2010

Staff and students at The British School of Kuwait extend best wishes to Head Girl Yara Al Wazir on the occasion of her participation in the World Economic Forum for the Middle East and North Africa which is taking place in Marrakesh Morocco. Yara is the sole representative from the Gulf taking part in this prestigious event and will be one of twelve participants from universities in the Middle East and the North Africa (MENA) who have been invited to present papers. Her paper will cover aspects of the economics of sustainability with particular reference to education. She is the youngest participant at this event and the fact that a member of the BSK Sixth Form has been selected to join university undergraduates indicates the high level of course work which she is taking. The participants will engage in training on gender equality in education with particular reference to the Middle East. Last year Yara was awarded the prestigious Global Citizen nomination from the British Council and has participated in a number of conferences in the UK, Switzerland, Lebanon and Jordan. These include the Arab Youth Advocacy Awareness summits in Beirut and Amman as well as the World Climate Conference in Geneva. She will take her A Level examinations later this academic year and has already been offered a provisional place at Edinburgh University to study Philosophy, Politics and Ethics.
