Three students at St Benedict's School, Ealing have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge.Laura Makhoul and Bill Lansbury have been made offers to read Natural Sciences at Selwyn College, Cambridge and Jesus College, Cambridge, respectively. Whilst Head Girl Laura is currently keeping her options open, Bill is hoping that this will be the start of a future career in research possibly within the field of Astronomy. Since joining the school it has been Joe Kelly's dream to read History at Oxford University. That dream is now within his grasp after an offer to read his chosen subject at Lincoln College. Joe chose Lincoln because he was impressed by the breadth and depth of study that was being offered.
Laura's and Joe's offers have been supported by their work on the Extended Project Qualification. Mrs Greenhough, the EPQ Coordinator within the School, commented that this reflects an increasing interest on the part of universities to recognise the skills that the EPQ provides. 'Increasingly universities are looking for students to have skills in independent learning and research skills such as referencing and footnoting'. The Headmaster, Mr Chris Cleugh added, 'We all congratulate Laura, Joe and Bill and wish them success in the fulfilment of this stage of their academic dreams.'
