Strictly Gershwin

PUPILS from the Senior school delighted a packed audience with an evening of music written by the great George Gershwin on March 1st.

Ensembles including the Orchestra, Dance Band, Wind Band, Sax Quartet, Jazz group and AVE all performed with real passion some of the great moments from George's short but fruitful life, while a narration took the audience through some of the highlights of his career.

The second half took the audience to a candlelit GWR for a more intimate 'Jazz club' vibe, as over 20 soloists performed the Gershwins' greatest hits, accompanied by jazz trio.

It was a wonderful evening that highlighted the' Glory of Gershwin' and the remarkable legacy that, more than 76 years after his death, a new generation are performing and falling in love with his music all over again.
