Weston Green's First School Councillors Elected

Published by Weston Green School on Wednesday 8th of May 2013

Elections for Weston Green's first school councillors took place in KS2 for school councillors just before the Easter break. Pupils who wanted to be considered for the role of councillor had to prepare a short election speech which they gave to the class. They then answered questions from their classmates.

The votes were counted and finally, amid much tension and excitement, the results were announced:

5H is represented by Xannie and Oliver
4D is represented by Jude and Caitlin
3N is represented by Thomas and Jorja

At the final assembly of the term, Mrs. Harvey proudly presented the new councillors with their badges. The first school council meeting was held shortly after and the council have been busy discussing what they would like to achieve during their term of office. KS2 have held another ballot to choose between a shortlist of suggestions for improving the school and getting involved in the local community.
