Northwood College pupils hold Art Exhibition for Children in Need

Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 7th of December 2010

Junior school pupils at Northwood College held a special Art Exhibition on 19 November 2010 to raise money for 'Children in Need'. Every girl from Nursery to Year 6 contributed to the exhibition by making a painting based on a 'Garden theme'. The girls used a variety of methods including watercolours, felting, collage and printing for their individually framed paintings, which included interpretations of famous painters including Monet and Cezanne.

The exhibition was open to the girl's parents throughout the day, where they could purchase their daughter's work for a minimum donation of £5, with all proceeds going to Children in Need.

Head of Curriculum Junior School, Mrs Hina Thaker, who organised the exhibition said: 'The girls really enjoyed taking their parents around the galleries and seeing their work displayed. The parents were astonished at their talents and high standard of creativity. So far we have raised over £1,000, with monies still coming in - a fantastic achievement'.

Mrs Janet Johnson, Head Mistress of Junior School was delighted with the response from both girls and parents, saying 'I am very proud to be head of a school where the girls respond so well on occasions such as these. The standard of artwork was wonderful and testimony to all the hard work of the staff and not least the girls themselves'.
