Inspiring Women in Business

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 26th of September 2013

Godolphin School launched their Inspiring Women in Business programme this evening (Tuesday September 24). The idea behind the programme is to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the girls.

Spearheaded by Head Samantha Price and Head of Business Studies and Economics, Mr David Miller, the programme has the support and expertise of several local businessmen, as well as an investor who has offered £10 000.00 to be used as start-up capital for the project voted and approved by a panel of experts, a la Dragon's Den.

Girls in the Fifth Year and Lower Sixth attended the launch where they were invited to put together their ideas for a business they would like to start and operate. The ideas will be presented to the panel, and the wining concept will secure the start-up capital.

The winning business will be officially formed based on company laws and the girls involved will gain great experience of all aspects of business, from concept through to close of sale.

'This is a wonderful opportunity for the girls and will enable them to leave Godolphin with experience usually gained only after leaving university' said Mrs Price.
