The Krupa Percussion Ensemble at St Benedict's School, Ealing has won a national musical award, the Ensembles Music for Youth National Partnership Award, sponsored by Birmingham Conservatoire. The twelve members of the Krupa Ensemble, aged 15 to 17 years, will have a day of expert tutoring and coaching from a Conservatoire Professor and resident ensemble. This will be followed by a masterclass and the whole experience will culminate in a performance opportunity within the Conservatoire itself.
Ben Gale, together with two members of the Ensemble, Bogdan de Berg and Josh Wood (Year 11), received this National Award in a ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Ensemble is one of the most successful and high-profile musical groups at St Benedict's School. Led by their founder and director, Music Teacher Ben Gale, the ensemble has performed in some of England's most prestigious venues, such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Southbank. They were back at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday 10 October, performing in the hugely popular Music for Youth Primary Proms.
