The Oundle School Junior Maths Team has won the Regional Final of the UK Mathematics Trust's annual Team Challenge. The Challenge, which was held on 25 March at The Kings School, Peterborough, saw 22 teams take part.

The Oundle team, comprising of Third formers (Year 9) Arthur Thomson (14), and George Garber (14) and Second formers (Year 8) Gordon Lin (13) and Ollie James (12) scored 211 out of a maximum 236 points over the course of the day leaving Bedford Modern and Oakham into 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

Maths teacher, Gordon Montgomery commented, 'Many of the local independent schools and the best of the nearby state schools were represented among the teams on the day. The standard of mathematics shown by many of the teams was very impressive and left little margin for error as the teams competed for the top places. Having been defeated by an excellent team from The King's School last year, the team were delighted to finish on top this time around.'

The Oundle team has now qualified for the National Final which will be held at The Royal Horticultural Halls in London on 23 June.
