GCSE Chemists visit Thames Water Education Centre

GCSE Chemists visited the Thames Water sewage treatment works at Slough to find out more about the supply of drinking water to homes and businesses Thames Water Trip Feb2015 (12)and how waste water is treated and made safe. In the Education Centre on site, the students learned that Thames Water supplies 8.8 million people with drinking water and provides wastewater services to 14 million people across London and the Thames Valley. To meet the stringent UK and European standards, the site carries out 500,000 tests per year on the drinking water supply. The students enjoyed a site tour and a range of interactive learning opportunities in the classroom on site.
