Cadet Corporal David Cuss of St Benedict's School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) has become the first recipient of the Conabor Sword. The presentation was made at a ceremony at the school on Monday April 27th by Captain Shaun Hullis, acting Commanding Officer of the CCF, in the presence of three representatives of the Ecobians, who had generously donated the sword. The Conabor Sword is a full-size sword awarded annually to the most outstanding member of St Benedict's School CCF, as decided by vote of the officers of the Contingent. In his commendation, Captain Hullis said: 'Corporal Cuss stands out as an exemplar of the values for which the CCF stands: loyalty, integrity, courage, discipline, respect for others, and selfless commitment.'Mr Ian Malcolm, Chairman of the Ecobians, formally handed the sword over to Corporal Cuss. The Ecobians are the association of former pupils of Ealing College (1820-2011). In November 2014, members of St Benedict's CCF were involved in the re-dedication of the Memorial Stone listing the names of the fallen of Ealing College during World War II. The Conabor Sword was given to the CCF by the Ecobians in gratitude for the participation of St Benedict's CCF in this re-dedication. Conabor, meaning 'Endeavour' or 'I Will Try' was the motto of Ealing College.
