Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 5th of April 2011

As part of Music Festival Week Queen Margaret's School played host to the girls' choir from Queen Margaret's School Duncan in British Columbia. Choirs from both schools partook in a concert held on 24th March in QM's Chapman Theatre.

Deputy Head Carole Cameron said of the evening:

'The concert was vibrant and exciting and a wonderful opportunity for the students of both schools to perform together. Our link with QM Duncan goes back a long way as an old girl from our school founded the Queen Margaret's in British Columbia. We look forward to performing together again in the future.'

The joint concert came towards the end of a week of musical celebration that started on Monday 21st March with a Musical Showcase. Highlights of the week included the performance of Schumann's Piano Quintet by the Field String Quartet and featuring Queen Margaret's Director of Music, Jeremy Bowyer playing piano and a concert of original songs composed and performed by QM students on the Wednesday evening.

The week ended on Saturday 26th March with a fantastic Battle of the Bands organised by Music Prefect Zoe Gilbert. It was an exciting and vibrant concert featuring bands from across the country.
