St Benedict’s competitors in London Marathon

Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 4th of May 2016

St Benedict’s School in Ealing had two competitors in the London Marathon on Sunday 24th April. Congratulations to Aine Yue, the Senior School Nurse, who completed the whole course in a time of 4 hours 30 minutes and to Zoe Crown (Year 9) who finished the London Mini Marathon in a personal best time of 22.03 minutes. Aine Yue was running in support of CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer charity which provides vital emotional, practical and financial support to young cancer patients and families during and after treatment. With the help of friends, colleagues and parents from school she raised £2,700. It was her second marathon: “The weather was perfect for running as it was quite chilly at times. Miles 21-23 were a bit tough but apart from that I really enjoyed it.” Zoe Crown was representing Ealing in the Under 15 Borough Challenge event over a distance of 5km, having earlier qualified as one of the six fastest runners in the borough. The Mini Marathon started at Billingsgate and followed the last 5km of the London Marathon route. It was a great experience for Zoe: “There was tremendous support all along the route and finishing on The Mall was very special. I definitely think I can improve my time and I look forward to next year’s event.”
