Grandparents' Day at Bishop's Stortford College Prep School

Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 6th of July 2016

Over a hundred pupils took their grandparents on a tour of the Prep School as part of Grandparents’ Day at Bishop's Stortford College on Monday 27th June. The tours included a visit to the Art rooms, Design & Technology workshops and Music facilities while pupils talked enthusiastically about every aspect of school life. Grandparents were also well entertained during the afternoon; pupils from across the Prep School performed a variety of musical pieces in the Memorial Hall. After the concert, the Grandparents were invited to join their grandchildren for afternoon tea in the College Dining Hall. The Dining Hall had been decorated for the occasion in red, white and blue, as the Prep School took this opportunity to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday. Everyone stood to sing the National Anthem as the cake was cut, and then there was discussion around each table as families tried to answer quiz questions on ‘The Decades of the Queen’. Prep School teacher Mrs Towns comments, ‘It was a wonderful afternoon and judging from the many enthusiastic comments from our visitors, it will be an event that will last in the memories of the pupils and their grandparents for many years to come!’
