Gold Award at National Concert Band Festival

The Bishop’s Stortford College Senior Concert Band travelled to Kensington on Sunday 4th December to take part in the National Concert Band Festival and were presented with a Gold Award. The competition adjudicators noted the choice of programme, which included a number of British and American contemporary band pieces, and also commended the ‘high degree of cohesion’ that the ensemble showed. Teacher of Music and Band Conductor Helen Pervez comments that “the performance went remarkably well and from the opening the very good quality of sound was obvious.” A Gold Award is a notable achievement and Mrs Pervez remarks that “the band members are thrilled and it shows the dedication and talent of these young musicians.” The band also enjoyed the opportunity to hear other bands perform at the Festival.
