Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 3rd of August 2011

Gresham's is celebrating some excellent IB Diploma results this year with an average Diploma score of 34 points, which equates to over 3 A* grades at A Level or on the UCAS tariff. All students achieved at least 25 points, equating to over 3 B grades at A Level.

Head of School Connie Birch missed out on a top score of 45 by just one point and will now go on to UCL in London to take up a place reading History. Less than 0.4% of candidates worldwide receive such a high score (2010 IBO figures). She was closely followed by Gerrit Dchting with 40 points and Alex Heider on 39 points, who will go on to read Medicine in Germany.

These results put the School above the world average points score and world average pass rate of approximately 82%.

All students achieved full certification with overall Diplomas awarded to 94% of students against a worldwide average in 2010 of 81%. Over 60% of the students were awarded Bilingual Diplomas as a result of their performance in languages.

Nearly a third of Gresham's students achieved maximum points in the core components the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge taken by all Diploma candidates, which are widely regarded as among the most challenging aspects of the Diploma.

Headmaster, Philip John, commented, ' This is our third year of the IB. These are impressive results by anyone's standards. Congratulations to all for their hard work".
