Lancaster Royal Grammar School is ranked the best performing boys' state school in the north of England, and among the top four state schools in the north west, according to the Sunday Times Parent Power supplement published this week.

This year's A-level results (74.9% at A* to B) and GCSE grades (68.5%A*/A) place LRGS once again in the UK's top 100 state schools, and fourth in the region, in the Parent Power league tables which are published annually.

Speaking at the school's annual Speech Day recently, Headmaster Andrew Jarman said this was a 'serious accolade' for the school and particularly praised the Upper Sixth leavers for their success at achieving places at the UK's top universities in what was a very competitive year.

LRGS is a state day and boarding school for boys, aged 11-18.
