Flourish at Farringtons

Published by Farringtons School on Tuesday 18th of January 2022

Our return from the Half Term break will see the second Flourish at Farringtons talk of this academic year. The focus of this talk will be social media and on-line safety; arguably the most important issue currently facing our children given its links to mental health, online bullying, device addiction etc.. For this most important of talks we have secured the expertise of Karl Hopwood and Childnet one of the UK’s leading online safety charities, who work to make the internet a great and safe place for all young people. As part of the UK Safer Internet Centre, they are experts in the field of online safety education and work closely with government, the internet industry, adults and children. For further information about Childnet’s work and mission, please visit their website www.childnet.com. The hour long session will give parents and carers an overview of the key areas of online risk (Conduct, Content, Contact), offer practical tips and advice that can be implemented at home, and will signpost to further resources and follow-up guidance. The session will include a 50 minute presentation, with additional time for questions, which can be asked throughout using the chat function.
