Poole Bouldering Competition

Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 6th of December 2022

Last week our dedicated climbing team entered a competition in Poole.

During the Olympics, climbing has three categories, speed, lead and bouldering. This competition focused on bouldering, with 20 challenging routes providing a qualification process to the finals.

There were strong performances from Jack O, Gabe R, Myles A, Noah S and Erin P.

The standout performance of the night was Minty P, placing fifth overall and qualifying for the finals. Six climbers attempted three challenging boulder problems in front of a large crowd, commentators and a live stream on YouTube. The finalists had five minutes to attempt each route, and Minty successfully made it the top of the second route, with impressive attempts on the other two.

Head of Outdoor Education Duncan Curry commented: "Against some strong competition, Minty performed exceptionally well, congratulations."

The climbing team are already looking forward to the next few indoor competitions over the winter period.
