Recognising our NLC Competitors

Published by The Royal School Dungannon on Monday 12th of December 2022

All Y10 RSD French and Spanish pupils recently took part in a National Language Competition. This was organised by GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) who are one of the three UK Intelligence and Security Agencies, along with MI5 and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). This was an online competition in which teams made up of 4 pupils had to solve language-based puzzles and crack codes to score points whilst competing against schools across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales to get to the top of the leader board.

All RSD pupils participated well and enjoyed the challenge of this competition especially as some of the tasks were quite difficult and required a lot of teamwork! Although we weren’t placed first overall, RSD pupils did well and scored lots of points.

The RSD winners were as follows:

1st: Team lively gifted heron with 2370 points: Nisha Chung, Kylie Leung, Minnie Yu & Charlene Liu
2nd: Team careful outstanding crane with 2055 points: Sarah Da Costa, Jemimah Anderson, Chloe Ewing & Charlotte Kennedy
3rd: Team colourful splendid dolphin with 1560 points: Chloe Rainey, Evie Wilson, Tanya Stoyanova & Desislava Turitsova
Well done to all Year 10 pupils for taking part and trying hard! You should be very proud of yourselves.
