The Wonders of Wildlife

Published by Dallington School on Tuesday 3rd of January 2023

This week, Transition took off to the Woodberry Wetlands, a local nature reserve located in the heartland of Hackney. This nature spot is a haven for local wildlife, flora and fauna - that is situated across 11 hectares.

This trip, allowed the children to explore the wonders of on their local doorstep, whilst learning how different species of animals thrive in a metropolitan city like London.

Throughout the day, the children got stuck into a plethora of activities to understand their local surroundings ranging from casting their nets in the water to search for aquatic life, exploring the benefits of creating micro animal shelters at home for invertebrates to thrive. However, the highlight for the trip seemed to be when the children did some nature spotting in the local surroundings - where the children were fortunate enough to spot a lone fox!
