LRGS students are Oxbridge-bound

Published on isbi School News dated Monday 5th of March 2012

No fewer than 20 Sixth Form students at Lancaster Royal Grammar School have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge University for 2012, the highest number at the school since 1985.

Headmaster Andrew Jarman said: 'My congratulations go to them all, although some have still got remarkably high requirements to meet before the place is secured. It is very pleasing to note the steady increase in the number of offers since the mid 1990s. This is a great tribute to the staff and friends of the school who have given time to prepare the boys for the required aptitude tests, and in particular the infamous Oxbridge interviews.'

Eleven of the boys have offers at Cambridge and nine at Oxford, for subjects ranging from Maths and Natural Sciences to Classics, Modern Languages and Computer Science. Lancaster Royal Grammar School is a selective, state day and boarding school for boys, aged 11-18. More details on www.lrgs.org.uk.
