Pyjamas on a school day?!
Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 13th of March 2012
Children at Laxton Junior School have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating their love of books while doing something a bit different, by going to school in their pyjamas! All 250 pupils AND 30 members of staff turned up in a wonderful array of coloured sleepwear. They all agreed that World Book Day, Thursday 1st March, was the perfect opportunity for the whole school to spend quality time discussing a variety of different texts, authors, illustrators and their personal interests, whilst wearing something a bit out of the ordinary.
All pupils were involved in 'book related' activities; creating their own electronic stories, writing short stories for radio 2's 500 word story competition and reading to groups in the local community, to name but a few activities. All pupils agreed that there is nothing better than snuggling up with a good book to discover new interests.
Many children also brought in books they had already read for a book stall with the proceeds being donated to Laxton Junior's chosen charity BDFA, Battens Disease Family Association. A fabulous day was had by all.
