On Friday 20 January, Northwood College launched its new 'Walking Bus' scheme for girls in Years 1-6 in the Junior School. A total of 24 girls, together with staff and parents, were joined by The Worshipful the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Mary O'Connor MBE for their first 'Walk to School'.

The girls, dressed in special reflective safety jackets, assembled at the Green Lane Hillingdon Council Car Park at 8am, before walking to the school in Maxwell Road.
Julie Maloney, Deputy Head Mistress of the Junior School said: 'We were delighted to see so many girls and parents taking part in our first Walking Bus, which was made extra special by the presence of The Mayor.

The Walking Bus will initially operate on Friday mornings but we hope to extend it to other days in the future. This is a scheme to encourage girls to walk to school and we hope in the long run that it will help ease traffic congestion outside the school.'
