A Year of Charity Fundraising, 2022-23!

One of our key core values, at St Peter’s, is Community; it’s a value we take seriously. Every year, we choose a charity to support through various fundraising events, organised by everyone: pupils, staff and parents! Our charity of the year for 2022-23 has been the Royal Marines Charity.
By adopting a charity for the year, our school community has plenty of opportunity to come together in aide of a common cause. Pupils in every school House plan a special fundraising day: Lake and Wren Houses have days in the Autumn term, with Falkner and Hodgson hosting theirs in the Spring. This year, pupils have held cake sales, organised games and little competitions. It’s a lovely opportunity for pupils from all year groups to work together.
It wasn’t just the pupils who have been busy. In May, staff, pupils and parents gathered together for a sponsored walk! Nursery to Year 4 stayed at school and enjoyed their walk around our beautiful grounds. Years 5 – 8, and their families, took to Woodbury Common for theirs. The St Peter’s Prep School PTA helped to organise two wonderful events, in aide of the Royal Marines Charity: the Summer Fete and the Charity Ball (which returned to St Peter’s for the first time since 2019).
Last, but not least, Mrs Johnston (Head), Mrs Hughes (Deputy Head, Pastoral) and Mrs Evans (Year 5 Tutor) signed up for a charity skydive. On a sunny Saturday morning in June, they bravely jumped out of an airplane and raised nearly £2,000!
Overall, we have raised a brilliant £16,800 for the Royal Marines Charity. It just goes to show what our special St Peter’s community can do.
