What a way to end the domestic season! A big weekend in Scotland is complete, and we return to school with our Club’s biggest ever medal-haul at this event. Our rowers experienced every sort of weather which makes rowing challenging, with torrential rain on Friday, a back-breaking headwind on Saturday, and a huge tailwind whipping the water up on Sunday!

Calm and positive throughout, despite huge (and some very soggy!) challenges, our rowers summoned all their resolve and called upon every ounce of their resilience to put together a weekend of racing we are so proud of.

Our WJ18 and WJ16 Doubles led the way, both winning stunning Gold Medals. The J16s led their race all the way, holding off a massive sprint from Trentham to win by just a few feet. The J18s raced strong and brave in very rough water, ensuring that they got the result their quality deserved. After many times just missing the top step of the podium, it was a delight to see them get their hands on the Gold Medal, particularly in Anna’s final race in Perkins colours.

Our leading J16s enjoyed teaming up with Wallingford RC in the J16 Quad, overcoming some challenging moments to race out of their skins en route to a fantastic Silver Medal, just half a length behind the winners.

In the WJ18 Eights, our crew of J15-17s raced with real belief from the start, with a big rhythm that saw them grab hold of a medal position early on. We were delighted to watch them seize the opportunity of winning a national medal, and their Bronze was the first at J18 level for the whole crew.

The Club registered three more A Final finishes, as well as three B Final rankings, on a weekend where every single Perkins crew attacked their racing head-on, and in the way that makes us so very proud.
