Henley Women’s Regatta

Published by Sir William Perkins's School on Sunday 28th of May 2023

SWPS have had fantastic news from Henley over the course of the last week or so. At Henley Women’s Regatta, our 1st Quad made the semi-finals in the blue riband event of Junior Quads for the first time in our history, and as a result have pre-qualified for Henley Royal Regatta.

Last week, our 1st Eight raced in the Qualification Races for Henley Royal Regatta, and finished in one of the small number of qualifying slots, which means that for the first time ever, SWPS will have an eight racing at the most prestigious river regatta in the world.

Only two UK girls’ school programmes have qualified both a quad and eight, and the fact that we sit alongside Surbiton High in doing so is a massive achievement for our rowers. Henley Royal Regatta is a truly international event - in the eights there are 5 overseas crews alongside 15 British boats, and in the quads there are 5 overseas entries alongside 19 British crews. We are all immensely proud that we are in this company, with so many of our rowers on the verge of experiencing something that words truly can not describe.

Congratulations to the following students:

1st Quad

Addy P, Anna C, Annabelle T, Emily N

 1st Eight

Lottie H, Maddie MacG, Evie S, Georgie M, Olivia S, Alice W, Amber S, Jess W, Darcie B
