Cycle Shop Steps Up A Gear To Further Support Youngster’s Fundraising Efforts

Banjo Cycles has presented Prior’s Court with £1,500 worth of bicycles and helmets for use by the young people with complex autism we support.

This £1,500 was raised by Ethan Tury who ran a 5km challenge event with his family and friends when he was aged 12. Ethan’s brother James is on a residential placement at Prior’s Court and the Tury family wanted the funds to go towards new bikes.

As well as sourcing the items at trade price, Banjo Cycles has also donated more bikes, helmets and other cycling bits after approaching distributors for donations.

The team from Banjo Cycles also provided training to Prior’s Court staff about correctly sizing and fitting helmets.

Matt Phelps, Prior’s Court Young Person’s Wellbeing Lead, said:

"This donation is incredible as it shows so many different groups of people – the Tury family, Banjo Cycles, their distributors – all coming together to create something fantastic. We’re very grateful to everyone for their support.

Exercise is a key part of our approach with supporting young people with complex autism and these bikes and other equipment are perfect."

The distributors who made donations are Frog Bikes, Oxford Products and Giant Bicycles.

Will Lewis, Banjo Cycles Store Manager, said:

"There are so many great benefits to cycling and everyone should have the opportunity to ride a bike. We feel privileged in being able to help, and partner with Prior’s Court, in being able to share the joy of cycling with the young people at Prior’s Court."

Overall, Ethan Tury raised £2,500 in his fundraiser. The remaining £1,000 went to our ongoing Performing Arts Centre fundraising appeal.
