The new Kindergarten at Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School in Mayfield has opened its doors with experienced teacher, Molly Mills, appointed as Kindergarten Leader. The Kindergarten, which caters for children aged 3- 4 years, is housed in a new and purpose-built Early Years building. The classroom boasts the latest teaching resources and the children can benefit from the school's extensive playing fields and adjoining woodland within its 32 acre site. Molly was immediately attracted to the environment and very much identified with the child-centred approach to teaching and learning which is at the very heart of education at Skippers.
'I had read the recent ISI report and was very impressed, especially with regards to the outstanding Early Years provision within the school. In addition to this, my teaching ethos is very similar to Skippers' ethos of 'teaching individuals and not classes'.'
Molly is excited about the opportunity to help set up a new Kindergarten at Skippers Hill and brings with her a wealth of teaching experience in both private and state education.
Having taught all ages of Primary School from Early Years to Year 6 with a specialism in Drama and Literacy, Molly has also held several leadership positions and had active roles in the redevelopment of the Early Years building, Science laboratory, and garden area in her previous position.
'My vision for the Kindergarten at Skippers Hill is for it to be a fulfilling and stimulating learning environment for 3 4 year old children. The outdoor facilities of Skippers provide an ideal environment for children to develop their understanding of the world around them.'
Head teacher, Tim Lewis, is pleased to have Molly on board and is confident that her vast experience will be important in building a positive environment in the new Kindergarten.
'Molly Mills is a welcome addition to our Staff. She is an excellent practitioner with vast experience and she joins our Early Years setting which was awarded "Outstanding" in every respect in this year's inspection report. Molly has a clear vision for our Kindergarten and will create an ideal environment for her pupils to grow and be happy. Her sunny disposition and bubbly personality have already made her popular with colleagues, pupils and parents.'
An official opening of the Kindergarten will take place in September.
