Published by Kingshott School on Friday 17th of November 2023

On Wednesday, Kingshott was very lucky to welcome the award winning author, Martin Impey, to school to deliver talks and presentations to children in Years 3 – 8.

Years 7 and 8 listened to a talk about the life of World War I poet, Wilfred Owen, and then studied ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ accompanied by Martin Impey’s powerful and moving illustrations.

Years 5 and 6 Years looked at the emotive letters in ‘Songs for Will’, based on the true stories of the lost gardeners of Heligan.

Finally, Years 3 and 4 looked at his moving story, ‘Where the Poppies Grow’, and then Year 4 were treated to an illustration workshop where they produced some fantastic drawings of soldiers; look out for the display of these!
