Skippers Hill pupils showcased their ambitious film making efforts to parents and friends at the red carpet premiere of their film 'War Children' at the school on Tuesday 3rd July.Year 8 pupils wrote, filmed, edited and produced 'War Children', which was filmed in the local area and features Year 7 pupils from the school as its cast. The characters and script have been created in response to themes surrounding evacuees from the Second World War, which the children have developed in their English and history lessons.
Parents and the local community have supported the project by assisting with costumes, props and locations. The local area has offered numerous locations which have proven ideal for filming, including the school itself, the Bluebell Railway and Bewl Water.
The children revealed the product of their efforts to parents and friends at the black tie event on Tuesday night, when the cast and film crews arrived for a red carpet reception before the film was premiered at 8pm. The evening continued with an 'Oscar'-style awards ceremony recognising the efforts and skills of the pupils involved in the project.
