Chigwell School was delighted to host its inaugural Student Leadership Conference yesterday, bringing together more than 60 student leaders from Chigwell, Copleston High School, Oaks Park High School and Ilford County High School.

The conference focused on developing the communication, confidence and interpersonal skills essential for effective student leadership, equipping pupils to make a positive impact within their own school communities.

Led by leadership coach Charlie Warshawski of Love Your Coaching, the day provided students with opportunities to collaborate with peers from other schools, explore the link between communication and leadership, and reflect on the qualities that enable young people to influence others positively.

Through a range of interactive workshops and discussions, delegates were encouraged to develop their public speaking skills, build confidence and consider how student leaders can serve as positive role models within their schools.

Tom Burnside, Deputy Head (Pastoral) at Chigwell School, said: “Student leadership is about far more than holding a badge or position of responsibility; the most effective young leaders are those who can communicate with confidence, listen thoughtfully and bring people together. We are delighted to welcome pupils from a number of partner schools and to provide an opportunity for them to learn from one another, share ideas and further develop these important life skills.”
