Novi come together for Empathy Action Day

Published by Tonbridge School on Wednesday 14th of October 2026

First Year pupils from Tonbridge and Benenden School recently took part in an immersive learning experience designed to deepen their understanding of global poverty and inequality.

Delivered by the charity Empathy Action, the programme transformed Big School into a replica informal settlement, where pupils engaged with real-life stories and testimonies from communities living in conditions of extreme poverty.

Through a series of interactive activities, pupils explored some of the challenges faced by families around the world, gaining a greater appreciation of issues such as limited resources, low-paid work and social inequality. The experience encouraged thoughtful discussion about empathy, social justice and the importance of creating positive change.

Empathy Action works to combat poverty and injustice worldwide while raising awareness of global deprivation. To learn more about the charity’s work or make a donation, please click here.
