Word From The Head

Adrian Brown
A very warm welcome to Orwell Park. I firmly believe that we are influenced by our surroundings and it is a privilege to live and work in one of the most beautiful settings, in Suffolk, for a school.
We want our pupils to develop a love of learning that they will carry with them throughout their lives and a broad and challenging academic curriculum is taught by high quality specialist staff, who are passionate about their subject. Outside the classroom, all pupils engage in a variety of extra-curricular activities, including the main sports, drama, art and music and from the Early Years onwards all are encouraged to gain confidence in public speaking.
There is an energy about the school which makes it a hugely exciting place to be. Many pupils take the opportunity to board, developing qualities such as tolerance, independence and leadership. All our pupils are encouraged to think creatively and independently and to take responsibility for their actions by respecting the rights and views of others.
Above all, there is a strong sense of community and family at Orwell Park, with excellent relationships between pupils and staff, who support and guide in good times and bad.
Orwell Park certainly prepares children for the next stage in their education, but more than this the boys and girls here display a quiet confidence and self-knowledge which enable a young person to go out into the wider world and make the most of it in terms of their contribution to others.
I am sure that you will look at the excellent ISI inspection report on the school’s website, but I hope that you will come and visit us in person, meet staff and pupils at work and get a sense of the excitement that we all share as a learning community.
