Word From The Head

Head Photo

Alex McCullough

Welcome to Orwell Park. It is a real privilege to be the Head of such a wonderful school and be part of a community that places children at the very heart of everything it does.

Set in 110 acres of beautiful Suffolk parkland, Orwell Park gives children the space and freedom to learn, explore, make friends, take risks and, most importantly, be themselves. Alongside academic excellence, pupils are encouraged to discover their passions through sport, music, drama, art, outdoor adventure, boarding and an extensive extra-curricular programme.

Our exceptional staff know each child as an individual, nurturing their strengths and helping them overcome challenges. We believe that happy, confident children are ready to learn and make the most of every opportunity.

As part of the Benenden Family of Schools, Orwell Park benefits from a wider community and opportunities to share expertise, while retaining the character, traditions and individuality that make the school so special.

Our recent ISI inspection reflects our high standards and commitment to pupil development. We look forward to building on these strong foundations and ensuring every child leaves with a love of learning, a sense of achievement and the confidence to embrace whatever comes next.

Please come and visit us; a warm welcome awaits.

I can honestly it’s been the best choice we ever made. From day one the school has felt like a place where children are truly known, valued and encouraged to thrive.... it really is a special place to learn and grow.

We absolutely LOVE this school. What a magical, wonderful place for children to grow and learn in. It’s like taking them home to home. The staff and teachers know every child’s names and needs. They really look at each child individually and what ever their interests are, they will make it grow.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the education my child has received at Orwell Park. The teachers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the school's values of authenticity, individuality, and forward-thinking have encouraged my child to grow into a confident and curious young person.

From the start, my daughter felt welcomed, supported and fully integrated into the school community. Thanks to the dedication and care of the teaching staff and the wider community, she was happy throughout her time at Orwell Park and has learnt a great deal both academically and personally.

Current Parent

Everyone knows my child’s name. Orwell Park are on top of their game in terms of children’s emotional Wellbeing and helping children learn how to be a well-rounded person. There’s a big sense of community, sport is very inclusive and the aspirations are high. It’s such a lovely place to be.
