Word From The Head

A very warm welcome to Windermere School. We are a school that is as unique and all-encompassing as our idyllic location on the banks of England’s largest lake at the very heart of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Place only makes up one element of what makes our school so special, of equal importance is people. We are a family as much as we are a school, a home away from home for many of our pupils and we achieve this because we care. We have the capacity to care about everyone one of our pupils because of our size.

Small class sizes and dedicated staff that offer wrap around care throughout the school year ensures that when parents choose Windermere School they do so safe in the knowledge that their children will be taken in the fold, a place of comfort, security and belonging.

The final element that I believe makes us such a special place to live and learn is our curriculum and the experiences we provide. In everything we do we seek to challenge and inspire, to find that real depth of learning that we know exists just beyond the edge of our comfort zones. Be that in the classrooms, on the mountains, out on the lake to taking on an opposition team on the sports pitch, our pupils embrace those challenges, they look forward to them, driven to succeed, confident enough to fail and always looking to learn whatever the outcome.

I am so proud to be leading such a dynamic community. We aim for every pupil to be inspired by the challenge, rooted in the land and brought into the fold: empowering compassionate change makers who seek to improve their world.
